For Paxixa and Tim
Here I am, looking at my beautiful wife, lying down, my son sleeping peacefully on my lap. The loudspeakers revive David Mourão Ferreira saying one of his poems. Another of his poems comes to my mind:
I also remember Avô António, the perfect grandfather, and Avó Quitéria, his beautiful, slightly wicked, intelligent wife. They were together till death did them apart.
My wish is that you also, as they did, and as we hope to do, live lovingly together until death does you apart.
DorsoHis poem is now mine. The final “tu” is Teresa.
